About your listing

Where this information appears
  • Once HousingLink approves the listing, it will appear in our Private Market Vacancy Report and Online Directory.
  • Listings submitted by 5pm on Wednesday should appear in the following week's Private Market Vacancy Report.
  • Listings may appear in the Online Directory sooner, as it is updated every 1-2 business days.
How long the information appears

  • Complete listings will stay open in our system for 6 weeks, unless you let us know they have been rented.
  • To keep your listing running without interruption, you must contact us again within 6 weeks of your listing to renew the opening with us.

Finding your vacancy in the Private Market Vacancy Report

If your vacancy is listed in the Private Market Vacancy Report, you can go to the vacancy report downloads and look for your vacancy. Because the report can be very long, it can be difficult to find your vacancy. We suggest the following steps:

  1. Select the metro report or the report for the county where the property is located.
  2. Once the PDF file opens, click on the binoculars in the Adobe Acrobat toolbar.
  3. Enter your contact phone number i.e. (xxx) xxx-xxxx in this exact format.
  4. Click the "find" button and this should bring you directly to your listing.

If you have trouble, please call us at 612-520-9233 (metro) or 866-454-2629 (greater MN).

What types of units qualify

Rent limits and Section 8 Vouchers

Vacancies should be under HousingLink's rent limits listed in the PDF file provided below.

Possible exceptions include:

  • if the unit has accessibility features for someone with a physical disability.
  • if the unit has undergone a lead-based paint hazard reduction.
Minnesota Rent Limits (PDF)

If you are having trouble downloading the PDFs, see the tech support page.

Also, HousingLink encourages landlords to consider accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. Please contact us if you have questions about how to do this.

These rent limits are based on the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Fair Market Rent (FMR) limits for the Twin Cities metropolitan area and Minnesota Housing (MHFA) Section 42 rent limits.

Fair Housing

HousingLink is a fair housing organization. We do not discriminate against persons on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, disability, creed, martial status, public assistance, ancestry, sexual or affectional orientation, or age.

Marketing properties in HousingLink's Directories

Complete a Property Information Form if you want to market a property that participates in an affordable housing program and/or has an obligation to provide affordable rent so that renters may know about your property regardless of a vacancy or waiting list opening. Property information will be listed in the Online Directory and the print Directory of Affordable Rental Housing. Find out more about HousingLink's directories.

If you want to market a specific vacancy, use the online Vacancy Listing Form. Vacancies and waiting lists will be listed in the Private Market Vacancy Report and the Online Directory.
