Online Directory of Affordable Rental Housing
HousingLink’s Online Directory of Affordable Rental Housing allows you to search, sort, view and print information about properties and vacancies within the Twin Cities metro area and selected regions in Greater Minnesota.
The Online Directory includes:

Units considered affordable according to HousingLink’s Rent Limits
-
Units that do not necessarily meet HousingLink’s Rent Limits, but have physical accessibility features
-
Units that do not necessarily meet HousingLink’s Rent Limits, but have undergone lead-based paint hazard reduction with assistance from a US Housing and Urban Development Agency (HUD)-funded Lead Hazard Control Program.
Note: To provide survivors of the Southeastern Minnesota floods with the greatest amount of housing possibilities, vacancies listed in selected counties of Southeastern Minnesota are exempt from HousingLink’s Rent Limits thru February 2008.

Note: Choosing one of these links will fill in the counties listed below for you.

Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington

Northeastern Minnesota
Aitkin, Bois Forte Indian Reservation, Carlton, Cook, Fond du Lac Indian Reservation, Grand Portage Indian Reservation, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St Louis

South Central Minnesota
Blue Earth, Brown, Dodge, Freeborn, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Olmsted, Rice, Sibley, Steele, Waseca, and Watonwan

Search by metropolitan Section 8 jurisdiction
Use this option if you have a Section 8 Voucher.

In the Twin Cities metro area, the Section 8 Voucher program is administered by 11 different housing authorities
-
Each of those housing authorities serves one specific region of the metro area
-
This creates 11 different Section 8 Voucher program areas

The map below is divided according to those 11 Section 8 voucher program regions
Click below on the name of the housing authority that administers your Section 8 voucher, and all the cities in which that voucher is accepted will be pre-filled on the following search page.

Instructions for using the Online Directory:

Click on Option 1, 2 or 3 above.

Select the criteria to be used in your search. To select the criteria:

Click on it so it is highlighted in blue. (e.g. “Properties where rent = % of income”)

Click to select it and make it appear in the “Selected…” box to the right.

(Click to remove any criteria from the “Selected…” box.)

When you have finished selecting criteria, click one of the “Submit Housing Search” buttons located at the top or bottom of the page.

Examine the results.

Contact any property in which you are interested for application information.
Helpful Hints for using the Online Directory:

When selecting locations, use either the City category OR the County category. DO NOT use both categories.

The more criteria you select, the less results you’ll get. The less criteria you select, the more results you’ll get.

Click on the next to any category if you’d like more information about that category.
